Winter Warnings
December 2010
With the exceptionally icy winter we are having this month; be prepared with a little extra food for yourselves and your pets.
Keep plenty of fresh water available outside and in for your family pets. To prevent the water from becoming a block of ice if left outside, bring the water bowl indoors. Be aware of water bowls left out for rabbits and small pets.
Many cats will avoid urinating outside if the ground is frozen. Provide more cat litter trays indoors to prevent cystitis or bladder infections caused by your pet not urinating at all.
Remember to be safe during ice conditions outside, which makes everything slippery for all animals. Grit outside paths to avoid you and your pet slipping in the ice or snow.
Use reflective collars or leads at all times when out on evening or early morning walks.
Remember: If it's too cold for you, it's most likely too cold for them, think ahead and be prepared!
